Greystanes Disability Services was established in 1958 by a group of parents in the upper Blue Mountains in New South Wales who were concerned by the lack of support for their children with disabilities in their local area. Matron Elizabeth McDonald opened the original “Greystanes Children’s Home” in Leura at the corner of Grose and Megalong Street. At that time, the grey stone building was called “Greystanes”.
